Oliver was born in the UK and began learning cello as a child. At the age of 13 Oliver was nominated as a string finalist in BBC’s Young Musician of the Year.
Oliver studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London with Raphael Sommer and Stefan Popov, and received a scholarship to Banff School of Fine Arts in Canada, studying with Janos Starker and Aldo Parisso. Oliver also completed masterclasses in Lucerne, Switzerland with Arto Noras.
Oliver has held Co-Principal Cellist positions with the Orchestra Sinfonica dell’ Emilia-Romagna (Parma, Italy), the ‘La Camerata’ Orchestra (Athens, Greece), Orchestra Victoria and WASO. Oliver has also performed with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and the Australian Philharmonic Orchestra.
