In 2002 he graduated with a Master of Music (Performance) from the Cleveland Institute of Music (USA) and also holds a Bachelor of Music (Hons) from the Canberra School of Music. His principal teachers have included Michael Sachs (Principal Trumpet, The Cleveland Orchestra), Daniel Mendelow (former Principal Trumpet, Sydney Symphony Orchestra), Paul Plunkett and Dominic Lindsay.
Peter has extensive orchestral experience having performed and toured internationally with many ensembles from Australia and abroad, including the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Sydney and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras, the Malaysian Philharmonic, Opera Australia Orchestra, The Cleveland Orchestra, Australian Brandenburg Orchestra and the Canberra Symphony Orchestra.
As a chamber musician, Peter was a founding member of the Australian Baroque Brass in 2004 and has performed regularly throughout his career with many brass ensembles, brass quintets and brass bands.
Peter is a passionate educator and currently is on staff at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), Edith Cowan University. He has also held teaching positions at the University of Western Australia and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and has been a guest tutor at the Australian National Academy of Music.
Peter is married to WASO cellist Eve Silver and spends most days chasing after his two young daughters.
