Emma grew up playing the violin in her hometown of Geelong. She completed a Bachelor of Music at the University of Melbourne studying under William Hennessy, during which time she was awarded the C.D. Hume scholarship and won the Geelong Advertiser Regional Competition. Following this, she went on to study at the Australian National Academy of Music with Adam Chalabi.
Prior to joining WASO, Emma had a vibrant freelance career based in Melbourne, performing regularly with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, Sydney Sinfonia and Tasmania Symphony Orchestra. She also performed regularly in chamber ensembles and string quartets.
When not playing the violin, Emma enjoys hanging out with her husband Dave and Golden Retriever Rupert, trying to grow things in her garden, and hunting for treasures in op shops across WA.
Emma's Chair is supported by Ulrich & Gloria Kunzmann through the Duet program.
