Kate grew up on the Gold Coast and began playing violin at age 4. She studied music in Brisbane and Melbourne, attaining a Bachelor of Music Performance with first class Honours from The University of Melbourne in 2008 before studying with William Hennessy and Adam Chalabi at the Australian National Academy of Music from 2009 to 2011.
Kate was a member of the Emerald Hill String Quartet from 2010 to 2011, and is a founding member of the Auric Quartet, who debuted as part of the 2013 Perth International Arts Festival. With the Auric Quartet Kate has performed in the Asia Pacific Chamber Music Competition, the Four Winds Festival, ASQ Dunkeld Festival and the 3MBS Schubert and Brahms Marathons.
Kate has performed with the Tasmanian and Melbourne Symphony Orchestras, Orchestra Victoria and the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra.
In addition to performing with WASO Kate teaches violin at The University of Western Australia, and has two children, Oscar and Cora, and two dogs, Mason and Winnie.
