Originally from Melbourne, Adam began his study on the bassoon at the age of 12 and is a graduate of both the Victorian College of the Arts and the Australian National Academy of Music. His teachers there included Matthew Wilkie, Lucinda Cran and Elise Millman. During his studies he was Principal Bassoon of Melbourne Youth Orchestra and appeared with them also as a soloist.
Further study took Adam to Switzerland where he studied with the Principal Bassoon of the Munich Philharmonic, Lyndon Watts. Throughout his time in Australia, Adam has held contract positions in a number of Australian Orchestras including the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria amongst others. In 2009 Adam won the position of Associate Principal Bassoon in the West Australian Symphony Orchestra and relocated to Perth in early 2010 and has since acted as a Principal bassoon for the WASO's 2014 season.
Still in demand outside WA as an orchestral and chamber musician, Adam has held guest positions with MSO, Southern Cross Soloists and most recently with the Australian World Orchestra. Adam also teaches at UWA and WAAPA and is a member of Ensemble Vagabond, ensemble in residence at UWA.
Adam also has a keen interest in all things relating to textiles and spends much of his spare time working on projects in his studio. 2016 saw Adam win first prize for the Australian Sewing Guild's 'Castaway to Couture' competition as well being the assistant costume designer for a fully staged production of Ariadne auf Naxos for Opera Box.
