Two dream-filled French works.

Inspired by unrequited romantic love, Berlioz’s radical masterpiece Symphonie fantastique is full of passions, dreams and phantoms – a lovesick musician’s hallucinatory fantasies. Revolutionary at its premiere in 1830, it remains breathtaking nearly 200 years later. Fabien Gabel, one of the stars of the new generation opens this concert with the concentrated atmospherics of Florent Schmitt’s Rêves – a West Australian premiere.

“Few conductors generate excitement quite like Fabien Gabel.” – City Newspaper, Rochester
