Impassioned lament for a lost world

Edward ELGAR Cello Concerto
Anton BRUCKNER Symphony No.3

Asher Fisch conductor
Daniel Müller-Schott cello

Elgar’s Cello Concerto was the composer’s last orchestral work, and his most confessional. Full of fleeting moments of gentle release, this darkly introspective triumph is a poignant response to a world lost to the Great War. Highly sought-after German cellist Daniel Müller-Schott brings passion and precision to this iconic work in his WASO debut.

Then Bruckner’s Third Symphony unfolds with sublime momentum and majesty. Although influenced by and dedicated to his musical idol, Richard Wagner, Bruckner discovered his own voice with this symphony, writing awe-inspiring music of unparalleled beauty and grandeur.
