The beginning of Mahler’s First Symphony sounds like the beginning of time itself – primordial, still and expectant. Under the baton of exciting young conductor Elim Chan, Mahler’s awe-inspiring symphony traverses a musical journey both epic and intimate, from bird calls and daydreams to twisted folksongs and on to a blazingly exultant conclusion.
