A heart-pounding message for the revolution
Richard WAGNER Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg: Act I Prelude
Dmitri SHOSTAKOVICH Symphony No.5
Asher Fisch conductor
Shostakovich’s Fifth is one of the most dramatic and thrilling symphonies of the 20th century. Composed under acute political pressure during Stalin’s regime, Shostakovich may have veiled his symphony’s true intention, but nothing can suppress its devastating musical power.
