The critics of Australia’s go-to monthly classical music magazine and website have shortlisted 40 outstanding Australian and International artists for the annual Limelight Artist of the Year Awards, and now you can cast your vote to decide who will take it home!

We are absolutely delighted that WASO’s Principal Conductor & Artistic Adviser Asher Fisch has been nominated once again for Australian Artist of the Year. As he prepares to enter his 12th season with WASO, this nomination is a testament to all of the fantastic music we’ve been able to share during his unprecedented tenure.

Of our 2024 Gala performance of Mahler’s Symphony No.8, reviewer Will Yeoman in Limelight Magazine wrote:

“One of the glories of Asher Fisch’s tenure as Principal Conductor of the West Australian Orchestra has been his ongoing traversal of Mahler’s symphonies…

And indeed, the sonic effect of around 400 musicians – eight soloists, five massed choirs and an expanded orchestra and organ – successfully grappling with such a choral and symphonic colossus was something to behold.” (read the full review here)

The Artist of the Year winners are chosen by critical and popular vote. For the first time this year, voters are also invited to nominate their favourite performance of the year for the Giving Culture Award.
