WASO announces 2021-23 Regional Tours
11.03.2021
WASO’s Southern Symphony Tour brings the repertoire of the MACA Classics concert, Sibelius and Brahms direct from Perth to the south coast for three performances.
Principal Conductor Asher Fisch joins WASO’s touring party of over 70 people to present a complete live symphony orchestra experience to WA’s regional centres of the south.
The orchestra will visit Geraldton and Kalgoorlie in 2022, and Karratha and Bunbury in 2023, delivering on a three-year commitment to regional touring.
The 2021 program features one of Australia’s finest young violinists, Grace Clifford as soloist in Sibelius’ Violin Concerto, Fauré’s Pavane and Brahms’ masterpiece, Symphony No. 1.
The tour will include free ensemble performances and open rehearsals along with workshops for schools and community groups. Pre-concert talks will also allow community members to get up close with the orchestra.
WASO’s last regional tour took place in 2019, and the orchestra is looking forward to delivering extraordinary live music to the regions once again.
“We are grateful to the Western Australian Government whose long-term commitment allows us to deliver unforgettable musical experiences across the state, continuing our mission to touch souls and enrich lives through music”, said Evan Kennea, WASO’s Executive Manager, Artistic Planning.
