In this role, Janet will champion WASO’s giving community, providing leadership and advocating the importance of private giving to our State Orchestra.

Janet is synonymous with WASO. Having first attended performances as a child, Janet was appointed WASO’s founding Chairman when the organisation became independent from the ABC, a position she held for 20 years.

During that period Janet was pivotal in establishing WASO as WA’s premier cultural organisation. She also played a key role in pioneering the establishment of many of our key giving initiatives, including the WASO Songbook, the Instrument Fund and the Endowment Fund, all of which have ensured WASO’s ongoing viability and safeguarded the future of the Orchestra for generations.

Janet is a passionate advocate of the importance of philanthropy, and for many years has fostered and nurtured a growing philanthropic culture in Western Australia. Through Janet’s generosity and energy, countless artists and organisations from music to theatre to the visual arts to children's television, have been supported and strengthened.

"I am delighted to accept the position of Patron of Private Giving of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.

To continue the exciting and dynamic growth of WASO, it is important that we encourage more music lovers and others to support us."
Janet Holmes à Court AC

WASO extend our sincere gratitude to Janet for her willingness to represent our donor family.
