Wit and warmth

Johannes BRAHMS Variations on a Theme by Haydn
Ludwig van BEETHOVEN Symphony No.8

Asher Fisch conductor

Brahms’ stirring variations effortlessly and joyfully blends together the clarity and purity of Haydn’s Classical style with his own richly-textured orchestral sound. Short it may be, but Beethoven packs an astonishing amount of invention, technique and sheer imagination into his “Haydnesque” Eighth Symphony, which endlessly delights and surprises.
