Unforgettable music of destiny and protest

Richard WAGNER Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg – Suite
Ernest CHAUSSON Poème for violin and orchestra
Dmitri SHOSTAKOVICH Symphony No.5

Asher Fisch conductor
Grace Clifford violin

Shostakovich’s Fifth is one of the most dramatic and thrilling symphonies of the 20th century. Composed under acute political pressure during Stalin’s regime, Shostakovich may have veiled his symphony’s true meaning, but let nothing suppress its devastating musical power.

Grace Clifford takes on Chausson's gorgeous Poème for violin and orchestra. This rarely performed gem, inspired by love and lust, will make you wish you heard it sooner.
