Moving and mighty

Wolfgang Amadeus MOZART Masonic Funeral Music
Andrew SCHULTZ Bassoon Concerto (World Premiere)
Gustav MAHLER Symphony No.1 Titan

Asher Fisch conductor
Jane Kircher-Lindner bassoon

Asher Fisch has built WASO into a formidable Mahler orchestra, and now he returns to his powerful First Symphony. Opening with sounds of nature, this audacious work harnesses the musical forces of a huge orchestra, building to a suspenseful and grand finish.

We open with Mozart’s emotional tribute to brotherhood, deeply moving music written to mourn the passing of beloved friends. Then, in a world premiere, WASO’s own Principal Bassoon Jane Kircher-Lindner performs Australian composer Andrew Schultz’s brilliant new Bassoon Concerto.
